This policy explains what information christophersnelling.com collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. This is a personal website and newsletter — data collection is minimal by design.

What I collect

The only personal information this site collects is your email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter. Subscribing is entirely optional.

No account registration, no contact forms, and no other personal data is collected directly by this site.

How your email is used

Your email address is used solely to send you the newsletter — new posts and occasional updates related to technology, marketing, and related topics. It will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Newsletter platform: Beehiiv

Newsletter subscriptions are managed by Beehiiv, a third-party email platform. When you subscribe, your email address is transmitted to and stored by Beehiiv. Beehiiv acts as a data processor on my behalf and is subject to its own privacy policy, which you can read at beehiiv.com/privacy.

Beehiiv may also load a tracking script (attribution.js) on this site to measure newsletter subscription attribution. This script may set cookies or collect anonymised data about how visitors arrive at the subscription form.

Analytics & cookies

This site uses a cookie preferences banner to control optional third-party scripts. If your location is in the EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, or Liechtenstein, optional scripts are blocked until you opt in. For California visitors covered by CIPA, optional categories are enabled by default and can be turned off. For other known opt-out countries such as Canada, Japan, and Australia, optional categories are also enabled by default and can be turned off. If location data is unavailable, the site uses the stricter opt-in behavior.

For visitors in US states outside California, optional analytics, attribution, comments, and social embeds are not loaded, and no cookie preferences banner is shown.

• Necessary: required for basic site behavior, including remembering your cookie preferences and theme choice.
• Analytics: allows Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to collect aggregate site usage data, such as pages visited and general location.
• Marketing and embedded content: allows Beehiiv attribution, Comentario comments, and TikTok or Instagram embeds.

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter email.
• Request deletion of your email address from the newsletter list by emailing me@christophersnelling.com.
• Ask what data is held about you by contacting me directly at the same address.

Data retention

Your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed to the newsletter. Upon unsubscribing or requesting deletion, your data will be removed from the mailing list.
